Numb3rs

I must say I wasn't overly impressed with this new show. I'll admit I was awaiting the pilot with much anticipation. While I've gotten hooked on a few sitcoms over the past couple of decades, I haven't really followed any dramas in quite some time. Oh, there have been few that I have watched on and off like NYPD Blue, Law and Order, and Cold Squad (don't scratch your head too much and no it's not a misprint- it's Canadian), but I watched maybe four or five shows in the season and that was it. Life in the submariner's world just doesn't support getting hooked on any shows. Now that I find myself on shore duty, with time on my hands and without the stress of working towards a Masters degree, I was hoping to find a good drama to sink my teeth into. I'm not sure this is it.
All the good ones are pretty well established (West Wing, CSI: Whatever, ER, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, etc...) and I don't want to invest the time into trying to figure out all the insider character jokes. This one had promise and while the pilot wasn't too bad (very predictable, but interesting nonetheless) I find it hard to figure out how they're going to keep this one fresh in the long haul. Okay, I get the concept, even seemingly random acts/thoughts can be computed. So, what's next? I'll give it a few more shows to see where it goes, but I don't have high hopes.
The last two dramas I watched religiously (and I mean never missed an episode) were St. Elsewhere (way better than ER) and Hill Street Blues (on par with NYPD Blue w/o the hairy white guy's ass). You can see it's been awhile. For now, I'll have to stick with The Amazing Race (the wife's passion) and American/Canadian Idol (mine and the kids) for regular watching and enjoy all the great wacky Canadian comedy shows (This Hour has Twenty Two Minutes, Red Green, Rick Mercer's Monday Report) that the US misses out on.
If anyone out there has any advice for a drama bandwagon to jump on, just let me know.

Rose Bowl

Aaarrrgghhh!

Not only do I have to witness a last second field goal dash the hopes of the Wolverines, but I have to endure the subtle, but ever so present bias by ABC TV. Did anyone else notice that at every commercial break they played the background music from the movie "Rudi", a movie about Notre Dame football. Any self-respecting Michigan fan detests anything to do with Notre Dame.

Coincidence?

I think not!
